Yoga For Weight Loss


      The rigours of modern urban life provide a lot of stress and consume most of our time. Thus, people hardly have time to cook real foods, making fast food the best option. However, these fast foods are filled up with fat which in the end make people gain weight. Also, most urban jobs ensure that one is in a sedentary position most of the time.

  • Yoga Warrior Pose: This pose is also known as veerabhadrasana. It is a pose which helps to strengthen and tone parts of the body like the thighs, arms, shoulder and back muscles. The pose is achieved by spreading both legs far apart in a straight line. The arms are then stretched and clasped together above the head. The torso is then moved left and right at intervals of 30 seconds to 1 minute.å
  • Yoga Chair Pose: This pose is also known as utkatasana. It helps to strengthen and tone the muscles of the buttocks, hips, thighs, ankles and knees. The pose is achieved by keeping the feet together and slowly raising the hands above the head while inhaling. The knees are slowly bent backwards while inhaling. This posture is maintained for about 60 seconds.
  • Yoga Cobbler Pose: This pose is also known as Baddha Konasana. It tones the lower part of the body. It stretches the inner thighs, knees and abdominal organs. It is achieved by joining both soles together in a sitting position for up to a minute.
  • Yoga Locust Pose: This pose is also known as Salabhasana. It is achieved by lying down on the stomach with the palms flat on the floor. The legs are then raised without bending the knees. The arms are also raised to the level of the legs. Thus making sure a person lies on his belly. The pose reduces fat near the hips and stretches the leg muscles.
